The DEP has just launched a program called Rediscover Florida - 100 ways in 100 days - to encourage all Floridians to explore the natural, cultural and historic treasures that exist throughout the state. It's a great idea. How many of us never get out to enjoy the free natural resources at our disposal?
Florida has 160 state parks, hundreds of miles of trails and numerous coastal and aquatic areas with activities to meet every visitor's need and budget.
Beyond the traditional activities of hiking, bicycling, picnicking or camping, visitors can enjoy a variety of festivals, concerts, historic reenactments, museums, gardens, workshops and education centers. Dollar for dollar, Florida’s public lands provide an entertainment value that is hard to beat with the added bonus of being close to home.
