Travelers looking for a Brit of a change

It looks like the Brits have had enough of staycationing, and as their fall has begun with some truly awful weather, bookings to sunnier climes are taking off.

And Florida is right at the top of the list, according to travel company Travel Counsellors, who, according to UK newspaper, The Daily Mail, reported that there had been a surge in Christmas bookings to Orlando in Florida.

The company says there has been a 41 per cent increase in bookings for the Christmas period compared with this time last year. A more favourable exchange rate, combined with special offers on trips, particularly in Orlando and Las Vegas which have been hard-hit by the recession, could be combining to cause the boom.

Recession fatigue may also have an effect, with Britons fed up of missing out on their little luxuries, such as foreign trips. According to the Mail, many have started to look towards next summer and are making the most of earlybird deals. Travel Counsellors has reported a 10 per cent increase in bookings made in September for summer 2010.
